Deny yourself means ignore your desires. Don’t lust for things in this world. All of your sinful desires, set aside. Take up your cross and follow Jesus means follow what He wants. In Jesus’ lifetime, if you carried a cross, that meant everyone watches you going to die. They will mock you and hate you. Jesus warned that when you follow Him, people will not always like you. You follow Jesus, life maybe hard. You give up your sinful desires, and people maybe don’t like you. But Jesus gives you true joy, and Jesus gives you true life forever. So we deny ourselves, we take up our cross, we follow Jesus, and we rejoice with Jesus. |
