Jesus taught with authority. Law teachers had to study and learn God’s word and then teach. Jesus is God Himself. He taught His own word the perfect way. |

Thought question: In Jewish law, a healthy person had to stay away from a leper (person with the skin disease leprosy). If you touched a leper, then the law said you are the same as a sick leper. People will avoid you. Imagine how a leper felt – no family, no friends, all people run away from you. Jesus touched the leper when He healed him. Why? How you think that made the leper feel? |

Lepers were very lonely. Everyone rejected them and ran away from them. Jesus touched him, wow! That made the man feel important again. It showed that Jesus truly loved him and will help him. That also shows Jesus was not afraid of his leprosy disease. Jesus was not afraid of any sickness. Jesus wanted our sickness, and He wanted our sin. He died on the cross to kill our sin and throw it away forever. That way, He can make us clean the same as He made the leper clean. |
