Who chose Barnabas and Saul to do mission work?

All of them fasted (ate nothing) and prayed.  They laid hands on Barnabas and Saul to bless them and then sent them out.

On the island of Cyprus, one man, named Bar-Jesus, also named Elymas, tried to prevent the gospel.  What happened to him?

Paul corrected him and said he will become blind for a while.  Then God made Elymas become blind.

Why do you think Elymas became blind?  If someone opposes God, does God punish them?  Or does God make them suffer so they learn to avoid sin and trust God?  Which?

Remember, God made Saul blind.  He taught Saul to give up persecuting the church, and he should trust Jesus.  God will let people suffer so they learn to avoid sin and trust God.
